Bevor du viele Pull-Ups machst, brauchst du erstmal saubere Pull-Ups.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8tooDuQQqo

Eine einfache Methode dafür ist EMOM: Every Minute On The Minute.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8tooDuQQqo

Du willst deinen Muscle-Up lernen?

Want to get stronger at Weighted Pull-Ups? Start by improving your technique, range of motion, and explosive Pull-Ups.

If you want to get stronger at Weighted Pull-Ups, your first thought is probably to simply add more weight. Maybe 25 kg this week, 30 kg in two weeks, then 35 kg. Progression is obviously important, but before you keep increasing the load, there are two things you should improve first: your regular Pull-Ups and your explosive Pull-Ups.

If your bodyweight Pull-Ups already look sloppy, adding 20, 30, or 40 kg won’t suddenly make them better. It usually does the opposite. Every technical weakness becomes even more obvious once you add more weight.

First, Get Your Regular Pull-Ups to a Good Level

That doesn’t mean you need to do 30 Pull-Ups in a row. That would be more about muscular endurance and doesn’t have much to do with maximal strength in Weighted Pull-Ups. What matters is the quality of your reps. Your Pull-Ups should start from a dead hang, stay controlled, and have a stable body position.

A good Pull-Up isn’t just about somehow getting your chin over the bar. Pull yourself up under control, ideally bringing your neck, chest, or collarbone toward the bar. Your body shouldn’t swing around, your legs shouldn’t kick, and the movement shouldn’t rely on momentum.

This is the exact movement pattern you’ll later use for Weighted Pull-Ups. If your normal Pull-Up is already clean and efficient, you can focus much more on producing force once you add weight.

2. Train Explosive Pull-Ups

The second thing I would work on is explosive Pull-Ups. The goal isn’t necessarily to pull as high as possible or immediately do High Pull-Ups to your hips. The goal is to accelerate the movement as fast as possible from the bottom.

Start from a complete dead hang with straight arms and relaxed shoulders. Then actively engage your shoulder blades and pull yourself upward as explosively as possible. The intention to move fast is what matters, even if heavier Weighted Pull-Ups will naturally move more slowly later on.

With Weighted Pull-Ups, you don’t want to slowly grind yourself out of the dead hang. You want to learn how to produce force quickly. Explosive Pull-Ups help you develop exactly that.

Quality Over Quantity

You don’t need 20 or 30 reps for this. Aim for around 4–6 strong, clean reps where every repetition still looks explosive. As soon as your speed drops noticeably or you start swinging, end the set.

The same applies to regular Pull-Ups. There’s little benefit in collecting endless half-reps if your goal is to get stronger at Weighted Pull-Ups. You want to build a movement pattern that is stable, repeatable, and efficient. Only then does it make sense to keep adding more weight.

Conclusion

If you want to get stronger at Weighted Pull-Ups, don’t start by simply adding more weight to your belt every week. First, bring your bodyweight Pull-Ups to a solid technical level and train explosive Pull-Ups so you learn to produce force quickly.

More weight only works long term when the foundation is solid. Clean Pull-Ups, good range of motion, stable shoulder blades, and explosive reps are the base that makes heavy Weighted Pull-Ups stronger in the long run.

If you don’t have a clear plan yet or you’ve been stuck at the same weight for weeks, a personalized 3-month training plan can help structure technique work, explosiveness, and heavy Weighted Pull-Ups properly.
